It’s been roughly six months since Fain Dalton and his The Grounds Guys of Germantown crew took delivery of their new Exmark Spreader-Sprayer. Since then, they’ve logged hundreds of hours with the machine on a wide range of properties, from residential, to commercial and municipal. Read about Dalton's results in this update.
Dalton said the machine has more than lived up to his expectations, both in terms of productivity and results.
“On most properties, it cuts our labor in half. Twelve to 16-acre properties that used to take us two days to complete now takes us about a day using the Exmark machine.”
“It’s definitely been a big savings on labor, which is typically one of our largest costs. So when you cut it in half, that’s a good deal.”
Dalton said the Exmark Spreader-Sprayer’s ability to do simultaneous application of liquid and dry material is another major benefit for his crew.
“The fact that you can do both liquid and dry applications at the same time is a tremendous time saver. In fact, in double application situations, we have even greater time-savings on labor. Now one guy is able to do a two-man job.”
In addition, operators also like the fact that they can see the spray pattern in front of them.
“The ability to see the application pattern reduces the need to overlap passes to ensure there’s no gap. We maximize this advantage by using die indicator in the tank, so we can see exactly where we’ve been.”
The Grounds Guys of Germantown crew said operator comfort is another strength of the Exmark machine.
“We like the way the tank is padded around the operator, and the general feel of the operator platform. It’s a very comfortable machine to stand-on and use.”
“Overall, it’s been a very good machine,” Dalton concluded.
