2017 Franchisee of the Year Dave Kennedy owns The Grounds Guys of Collingwood, and he was invited to play on charitable hockey event following the tragic bus crash which killed 15 junior hockey team players and the coach on April 7.

Dave has played hockey his whole life and still plays so this event held personal importance to him. He helps run hockey training camps for kids along with Breakaway Sports, who created and hosted an April 14 fundraiser for the victims’ families. A winner of Canadian Idol sang the National Anthem at the event, which raised more than $10,000!

Jeremy LinvilleJeremy Lindville Flooding_weCARE Corner

Last month, Jeremy Linville, franchise owner of The Grounds Guys of Mattoon in Illinois was deeply affected by the flooding, following heavy rains in his area. In addition to having to close operations for about a week as roads were inaccessible, his home took on water, his trailers floated off his property and it took approximately three weeks to get them back and cleaned up. While the large equipment was mostly unaffected, smaller tools and his season’s start-up materials including several tons of dirt and river rock were completely lost. His neighboring franchisees offered their help if needed, and he remained positive about servicing his customers for spring clean ups as soon as possible! Jeremy’s Franchise Consultant Linda Miller said, “Jeremy faces any challenge with resolve and steadfast commitment to the brand.”
